NIKOLA TESLA, THE MAN AND THE LEGEND

Short Description of the Presentation

The presentation will give a brief history of Nikola Tesla’s birth, youth, and early years as an Electrical Engineer. The well know highlight of Tesla’s long career is the development of the Poly-phase Electrical System. When Tesla came to the United States and met with Thomas Edison he  probably had no idea that he would end up digging ditches in a short time. What irony for one of the greatest minds and inventors of the 19th Century!

Fortunately Tesla had much better luck in his relationship with George Westinghouse, the man who recognized Tesla’s genius. Westinghouse ended up buying Tesla’s patents thereby financing Tesla’s High Voltage Experiments.

We will have a “hand’s on” demonstration of  a table top Tesla Coil. How many times in your life will you get to “touch” 100,000 Volts!

Guest SpeakerSpeaker’s Biography

Anthony Demaria has over 50 years of experience in the Electrical Field. His father (Anthony Demaria Sr.) fostered an early interest in Nikola Tesla and together they visited the Tesla Museum in Beograd, Yugoslavia in 1986. Anthony visited the Birthplace of Tesla in Smiljan, Croatia last year with its new Museum.

Anthony served his IBEW apprenticeship working under the supervision of his Father. Then he went to work for the Department of Water and Power, City of Los Angles as a High Voltage Electrician for 7 years. This included approximately 2 years at the 800kV DC Sylmar Converter Station.

Thirty years ago, Anthony, his Father and Brothers joined forces to create Demaria Electric. Anthony now owns Tony Demaria Electric, a National Electrical Testing Association (NETA) Company. Anthony is on the NETA Safety Committee.
